Our staff at Marlette Elementary went above and beyond to decorate the school with Red Raider-themed reading displays to help prompt our students to be extra excited about reading this month. Thank you all for being so committed to our students with your creativity. The building looks fantastic!

Students were tasked to match a book cover and title to the teacher who claimed the book as their favorite of all time with a Book Board Competition. Winners at Marlette Jr./Sr. High School were announced today! There was a tie for first place between Lucas Hascall and Jayden Turland. Because of staff donations, each student won a $50 VISA gift card and a candy bar. Officer Sanchez also bought ice cream for the students who participated. It was a unique way for students to learn more about their teachers while having fun!

On Friday, March 8th, students can wear a shirt that others can read! And remember to send in a flashlight for your child to be used for more learning and fun in the classroom.

Benjamin, we are excited to see where your artistic side takes you while on your journey at Marlette Elementary. We appreciate you!

Charleigh, you are so lovely to help so many classmates. Thank you for representing the Red Raider spirit daily!

William, we appreciate how hard you challenge yourself each day in school. Keep up the great work!

Our Junior Wrestling team competed at Regionals today at Clio. Ryan Moshier and Jacobi Outman earned 3rd place plaques, while Landon Bullock and Mason Bullock won 5th-place titles. Congratulations to all Marlette competitors this weekend.

The Mecha Marauders 9757 Robotics team competed at the FIRST Robotics Competition this weekend at Kettering University. This was the first competition for this team as well, and students placed 25th out of 40th in the qualifications and moved on in the Number Two Alliance to finish in 4th place. We are thrilled to have this club available to our students and look forward to the cutting-edge learning that will happen on the team.

Turlough and Westley battled hard this weekend at the MHSAA Wrestling Finals.
During the competitions, Westley went 1-2, losing in the blood round (just missing the top 8 in the state).
Turlough went 5-1 and placed 3rd. We are so happy for the hard work these boys have put in and appreciate their efforts and successes.
Congratulations, Turlough and Westley!

The Grinch welcomed kids to Marlette Elementary School to remind parents and students about next week's book fair. It runs Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and during the Parents Reading Night on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Today, the Marlette Junior and Senior High School Bands traveled to The University of Michigan-Flint to participate in the District III MSBOA Band and Orchestra Festival.
Despite being "small but mighty" and amidst other class A and B programs, our humble ensembles earned overall Division I ratings.
The process:
A panel of three judges each gives a rating for an on-stage performance of three pieces, and then one adjudicator provides a score for sight-reading. During sight-reading, the band must perform a work of music they have never seen before after preparing it for only 5 minutes.
Ratings given to instrumental ensembles are listed as Division I through Division V. Division IV and V's are rarely given. Division III is listed as "good with noticeable flaws," Division II is listed as "Excellent with few flaws," and Division I is listed as "Superior, with few or no flaws."
Junior High Earned I, I, II, with a Division I in sight reading for an overall Division I rating.
High School earned I, I, I, I for an overall Division I rating.
Both bands earning a D1 will advance to the state festival in April.
Congratulations to our students!

"Hard work pays off "
I am very proud of our kids! They earned this week's "LEADER" letters and a P.J. / Cozy Day. Not only that, but they also earned a pizza party from Officer Sanchez, who made a unique treat challenge with students. If they earn 90 percent or higher on a spelling test, Officer Sanchez will host a pizza party! Fortunately, the whole class earned not 90 but 100%, not once but twice! They did a fantastic job on spelling tests two weeks in a row. They received 100%. I am very proud of them.
Congratulations to all!

We are cheering for you, girls! Best of luck to you. Go, Red Raiders!

Good luck to our Quiz Bowl members in your competition tonight! Go, Red Raiders.
