The Organizational and Regular Board of Education Meeting will be held on January 9, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Elementary School Library.

ANNOUNCEMENT: There will not be after-school tutoring at the Jr/Sr High with Sarah Kady today.

Students in Mrs. Thompson’s class enjoyed 30 minutes of free time in the gym today as a prize for earning their LEADER letters. The kids have been working hard to show the 7 Habits in school, and staff members have been noticing!

4th graders in Mrs. Thompson's class did a project to fit into habit 2: "Be Proactive." They picked their "word of the year" for 2023. After reading "One Word for Kids" by Jon Gordon, students brainstormed a word they would work toward for the rest of the year. The children were thoughtful in their word choices and did a terrific job on the project.

We are proud of the results of our Superintendent's leadership in our schools. Mr. Karaffa proudly attributes the district's success to every staff and faculty employee who embraces the goals and standards! When interviewed, he said,
"I could never have been marked highly effective without the help of those around me. The dedicated staff in our Central Office, Julie Quade and Deanna King keep things in front of me and make sure I am where I need to be. The building principals, Mr. Dunk, and Mrs. Owen, are top-notch and work hard to motivate their students and staff. Alisha Vislosky, our Director of Special Education, has been essential to our student success. Our Transportation Department Supervisor, Kay Taylor works closely with our dedicated bus drivers to streamline our transportation program. We have amazing teachers, coaches, and support staff that keep our students engaged and focused on learning. When you add it all up, it is a great time to be a Red Raider."
Regarding facilities, Mr. Karaffa gives all of the credit to Mike Nickens, Head of Maintenance, and his custodial staff for the upkeep of the buildings and on the grounds. Karaffa also praised the financial work of Brandi Bishop, the business manager for the district, whom he described as "efficient, very knowledgeable, and a significant asset to their administrative team at Marlette.
