We have heat in the High School! Marlette Community Schools will be in session Wednesday, March 20. Thank you for your patience as we resolved this issue. Have a great evening!

Farm Bureau America sponsors a Me Essay Contest yearly. The writing competition was originally created for 8th-grade students to explore their career aspirations and consider how their future roles can impact their community. Nowadays, students submit inspirational stories that honor someone who has personally made a difference in their lives, a Michigan Hero. For more than 50 years, over 500,000 eighth-graders from hundreds of Michigan schools have participated in the writing contest. As a sponsor, Farm Bureau Insurance earned 11 national awards from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.
OUR WINNERS ARE:
1st Place - Ryan Thomas
2nd Place - Ely Bell
3rd Place - Rihanna Keys
Congratulations to all Marlette students who submitted an entry!

Marlette Community Schools will be closed Tuesday, March 19. Our high school heating system is out. We are working to correct the issues ASAP and will evaluate the situation on a day to day basis. We apologize for the late notice but was hoping it would be repaired by this evening. Red Raider Care will be open. Please contact Miss Tiffany at tbrooks@marletteschools.org if your child will attend.

The Jr/Sr High School tutoring schedule will be changing with several of our teachers changing their availability due to coaching. Please review the updated changes. Tutoring will end for the year on May 23rd.

Let's snuggle up and read on March 22nd! Students can wear their favorite pajamas to school that day and cozy up to some great reading opportunities.

Hadley, congratulations on a job well done in school. We are so proud of you.

Sierra, it is good to see your growth in school, especially in your art. You bring joy to others with your beautiful work.

Our bus drivers have a combined 113 years of service driving our students! Seven bus routes transport roughly 460 students, and our drivers clock about that many miles per day.
Our drivers are very early morning risers, braving all types of weather and encountering challenges daily.
Their number one priority is keeping 'their' kids safe.

Thank you to our bus drivers! We are so appreciative of your years of service, your continued commitment to providing safety in all that you do while transporting our students, and your many kindnesses that you bestow upon our students:
Tammy Dobbelaere (24 years),
Debra Silance (20 years),
Amy Choike (18 years),
Ceci Chapin (10 years),
Melissa Klatzke (4 years),
Sue Huggett (3 years),
Justin Marquardt (first year).
Substitutes: Kay Taylor (33 years), Michael Yaros, Robert Wilcox, Dave Osterhout.

Kristian, thank you for being persistent with your schoolwork and for your continued determination to do well.

Marlette Band hosted its 2nd annual Easter Bunny breakfast. Thanks to the Marlette Lions Club for donating the bikes and to the many parents and band students who donated supplies or their time to help make this a success. We also want to thank John Scott, who took pictures of the kids and our Easter Bunny. Over 150 community members supported the event. The money raised will be used for meals, snacks, and drinks for marching band camp and marching season!
Congratulations to our raffle winner.: Althea Crane and Jaxson won bikes. Aubree Cummings, Phineas and Maseus Mausolf, Charlotte Kelly, Esmae Smith, and Eddie Lams won baskets.

Mrs. Gentry's students participated in the First Impression Competition and showed creativity with their writing and art. Students submitted work in all categories (poetry, 3D, 2D, and drawing). Some students wrote poems about our State of Michigan from their hearts, making their talent visible as young authors. And most importantly, as always, hard work gets rewarded. The class has six students selected to represent Marlette Elementary School and to celebrate their achievements at Sanilac Career Center.
Congratulations to:
Amy Liu
Austin Vanderpoel
Blake Warren
Elliott Davidson
Madison Hill
Noelle Wilber
Thank you for representing our Marlette spirit!

Our students have been reading books by Dr. Seuss during reading month, and it's incredible how timeless his books are! The rhymes, the illustrations, and the messages are all delightful and still relevant today. Teachers and students also enjoyed dressing up like characters in his books this month.
Brown City hosted the ESports Big Thumb Showcase competition. ESports is taking off in many communities, and our students enjoy competing against other teams.

Marlette High School hosted the Quiz Bowl competition last night. There were many students who participated, and did well!

The Marlette Battle of the Books teams traveled to Brown City Elementary on Tuesday, March 12th. Each grade level was tasked with reading at least eight books from their list of 22 best-selling children’s books. Many students went above and beyond with the number of books read and spent many hours studying.
The 4th-grade team included Aria Dischinger, Finlee Hunter, Elizabeth Perry, Nathan Marsa, Evelynn Wood, Aubrey McRobbie, Riley Noble, and Emma Flowers. They placed 3rd and read a combined total of 98 books!
The 5th grade team also finished 3rd, including Alayna Martiss, Ashleigh Ulmer, Carter Schlueter, Kendall Thompson, and Sam Bishop.
The 6th grade team finished 4th, including Aria Bednaryczk, Jack Hines, Virginia Dean, and Zoie Thompson.

“A Message in the Bottle” is part of our ongoing Pirate Theme for Reading Month.
Third graders partnered with kindergarteners and read various books to them each week. It is incredible to see students engaged and happy to participate and discuss the stories that they read with each other.
