At the end of our reading month in March, Ms. Katherine and her dog, Whitney, visited the classrooms and read a book about accepting others. Whitney was a big hit; the kids loved having a pet in the school.

Marlette Community Schools would like to wish the Kingston Cardinals Girls Basketball Team the best of luck in the Michigan State Finals tomorrow morning. The THUMB is behind you as you chase the first title in school history!

Marlette Community Schools will be closed Friday, March 22. Red Raider Care will be open. Please contact Miss Tiffany at tbrooks@marletteschools.org if your child(ren) will attend. School will resume on Monday, April 1. Have a safe & fun spring break!

Spring break is almost here! Enjoy the well-deserved time off.

Mrs. Cooper's 1st-grade students learned about baby farm animals from our FFA biotech friends Natalie Lefler and JJ Hauxell. These savvy facilitators taught students the proper scientific names of baby farm animals and had some thoughtful information to share about ponies. At the end of the presentation, students asked questions and learned about different farm animals.

4th graders took a field trip to Longway Planetarium in Flint on March 14th. They enjoyed a planetarium show about our changing earth that ended with a roller coaster ride. They also participated in 2 classes: a STEM activity about earthquakes and a dissection of a sheep's eye to learn all the parts. The planetarium staff repeatedly commented about how polite and hard-working the Marlette 4th graders were! We appreciate them being respectful and representing the Marlette Spirit!

The athletic department is sharing information regarding upcoming spring sports events. There has been an increase in umpire fees, and to keep up with the costs, we have decided to charge for home baseball and softball events. We will also charge for our two large track meets, which are scheduled for April 19th and May 21st. The entry fee for all these events will be $5, and your school pass will be accepted for all events except for the track meets and the softball tournament on April 27th.
I understand that this may surprise some of you, but please know that this is a necessary step to ensure that we can continue to provide high-quality events for our community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mr. Pennington at tristin.pennington@marletteschools.org. Additionally, if you would like to purchase a school athletic pass, please contact the district office.

Thank you for your patience! Out boiler is fixed and we have heat in the Jr./Sr High School. We will see everyone tomorrow!

Farm Bureau America sponsors a Me Essay Contest yearly. The writing competition was originally created for 8th-grade students to explore their career aspirations and consider how their future roles can impact their community. Nowadays, students submit inspirational stories that honor someone who has personally made a difference in their lives, a Michigan Hero. For more than 50 years, over 500,000 eighth-graders from hundreds of Michigan schools have participated in the writing contest. As a sponsor, Farm Bureau Insurance earned 11 national awards from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge.
OUR WINNERS ARE:
1st Place - Ryan Thomas
2nd Place - Ely Bell
3rd Place - Rihanna Keys
Congratulations to all Marlette students who submitted an entry!

Marlette Community Schools will be closed Tuesday, March 19. Our high school heating system is out. We are working to correct the issues ASAP and will evaluate the situation on a day to day basis. We apologize for the late notice but was hoping it would be repaired by this evening. Red Raider Care will be open. Please contact Miss Tiffany at tbrooks@marletteschools.org if your child will attend.

The Jr/Sr High School tutoring schedule will be changing with several of our teachers changing their availability due to coaching. Please review the updated changes. Tutoring will end for the year on May 23rd.

Hadley, congratulations on a job well done in school. We are so proud of you.

Let's snuggle up and read on March 22nd! Students can wear their favorite pajamas to school that day and cozy up to some great reading opportunities.
