Our 8th grade Washington, D.C. trip was a great success! It's always impressive when students can display such excellent behavior and manners, and it's no wonder that several people complimented them on their respectfulness, representing the Marlette spirit!
It was an unforgettable experience for the students to visit many iconic places, including Gettysburg, the U.S. Capitol and White House, many monuments, and the Holocaust Museum. Seeing the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights in person was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about the foundations of our country.

Congratulations to Wilkinson Tree Farm for winning the Sports Boosters Fundraiser! The Marlette High School Varsity Baseball team spent an afternoon planting Christmas trees at the farm alongside Ryan, Brooke, and Ava Wilkinson. It was a great day of hard work, and lots of trees were planted! Thank you to the team for their efforts and to Wilkinson Tree Farm for their support. We are grateful for our community's dedication to a worthy cause!

Yesterday was a day to remember for the Marlette HS Band! They got the opportunity of a lifetime when the band was invited to play on the Michigan Capitol lawn in Lansing, MI. Students started the day with a tour of the new Hall of Justice, then performed at the Capitol Building lawn and got a tour of the Capitol.
The day's highlight was when our representative, Greg Alexander, introduced the Marlette team at the house meeting and shook hands with everyone. Our students received a public shoutout on the floor - 'The house chamber wishes to recognize the 17-member Marlette Band to the Michigan Capitol hearing!'
It was a great chance to mold new, active citizens and a life-changing opportunity for us. Bravo to our students for making it happen!

Teenagers are often misunderstood and unheard, but author Chris Crutcher reminds us to listen to them. In his novels, young protagonists grapple with tough challenges, such as disabilities, prejudice, and abuse. Through his books, Crutcher shows that teenagers have a unique perspective on the world and that we should take the time to listen to them. Let's start a conversation about supporting and empowering young people better.
The author will visit Marlette on May 23rd at 6:00 p.m., and families are encouraged to attend. Please register using the QR Code.

Amy and Woody Stockton did something incredibly generous for the students on Mr. Marquardt's bus route - they donated juice! It's always heartwarming to see individuals spreading kindness and positivity, and Amy and Woody certainly did that today. On behalf of the students and Mr. Marquardt, we'd like to give them a big shout-out for their generosity and thoughtfulness. Thank you, Amy and Woody, for making a difference in our community!
