Marlette Elementary Young Fives students celebrated the 100th day of school with some fun activities. Each child took home a Ziplock bag and brought it back to school filled with 100 things. The children also made 100’s Day necklaces and attempted to eat a sucker by licking it 100 times.

In Paula McElroy's class last week, there was a unique guest speaker who visited her archaeology class. Bill Hayworth is a retired science teacher who is a Paleo Mammal expert and has collected ice age animal remains. He brought some of his collection here for our students to see and facilitated an excellent conversation with our students comparing the different ice age animals to modern day mammals. Our students were able to see and handle the skulls of a saber tooth cat, fire wolf, cave bear, giant beaver, American lion, mastodon, and mammoth. Students are studying the Ice Age animals as part of our archaeology curriculum.
