MARLETTE — The city of Marlette and Marlette Community Schools have reached an agreement for the school resource officer position.

Terms of the agreement call for the city to provide the officer for the 2026-27 school year beginning Aug. 3. The officer will work eight hours a day while school is in session, with adjustments to provide security during evening school-related events.

The total cost of the school resource officer job, including wages and benefits is $97,900. Under the agreement, the school district will reimburse the city $70,025.

Marlette Township also contributes to the cost of the position.

Officer Jim Sanchez, who has been working in the school for several years, will continue in the position for the 2026-27 school year.
