On March 7-10, 2024, twenty-two Marlette High School Business Professionals of America team members traveled to Grand Rapids, MI, to compete at the annual 2024 BPA State Leadership Conference. Over 2000 students, comprised of Michigan regional champions from around the state, placed in over 74 BPA competitions. Competitions were fierce, as some individual competitions had up to 50 contestants, and the team events had up to 18 teams per event!
It was a busy but rewarding weekend for all participants as they dressed up for business and competed in their team and individual events, participated in team-building activities, attended Legacy Leadership Seminars, visited the College Fair, were treated to an elegant dinner banquet and dance Saturday night, and finally attended the Awards Ceremony on Sunday morning! A trip to the public museum was offered on Saturday, and some students even got to visit a Cat Cafe in their downtime! It was a hectic weekend.
At the Sunday Awards Ceremony, the Marlette BPA was well represented, with many students participating in their events while others earned their personal best results. Marlette finished by putting in the TOP 12 in 9 different events, with six individual students and two teams placing in the Top 7, where they were recognized on stage and received awards, while the Top 3 places qualified for the National Leadership Competition in Chicago, IL during the week of May 10-14, 2024.
