Friedhelm Illian is a seasoned teacher with 38 years of experience teaching German and World Culture to grades 8-12 students. He came to Marlette intending to establish a remarkable German program to benefit students and families.
Mr. Illian is a proficient bilingual speaker of English and German, which makes it easier for students to learn both languages effectively. His ultimate goal is to develop an exceptional exchange program between Marlette and a school in Germany soon.
In his free time, he enjoys cheering on football games of current and former students. Also, he loves to travel across North America, Europe, and Asia. During his leisure time, he enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, watching German and American movies, and sometimes driving to the Upper Peninsula for his favorite savory PASTY.
