There was some confusion about buses running next week for career center. We are running a career center bus as usual. If students need a ride in for AM career center, they may ride their usual bus to the school, but they will need to be picked up upon returning from career center. PM career center students will need a ride to the school to ride the bus over to the career center and may ride their usual bus home upon their return in the afternoon. #BearWithUs #Sorry

If our District is notified of a positive COVID-19 case that puts a morning bus route into quarantine, that route will not run. Parents will be immediately notified via the Marlette App and Facebook. The District will call affected families as soon as possible. Please check Skyward and ensure that all listed phone numbers are up to date. Thank you!

Reminder...we need to know if your student has tested positive for Covid or is quarantined because of an exposure to someone who is positive. Please call your student's school office to report. Thank you.

Just to clarify, 7-12 grades are remaining virtual until Jan. 21. Students will return for exams (in person) on Jan. 21 and Jan. 22. Special Education students are able to be in the building Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday by emailing Mrs. Vislosky.

A phone call was just sent to all parents in the district. If you did not get the message, it states: K-6 will resume face to face instruction on Monday, January 18. 7-12 graders will return on Thursday, January 21.

Do you have some good news about any of our amazing students or alumni? Please forward that good news to: jvislosky@marletteschools.org. We love hearing about and sharing the success of our students and graduates! #RedRaiderNation

Due to 2 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the elementary building (staff), we've opted to make Monday and Tuesday fully virtual for the entire district, K-12. We plan to deep clean, so preschool and Red Raider Care will be closed until everyone returns on Monday, January 4, 2021. No technology will be distributed at the elementary building so be prepared for a phone call if you are unable to connect virtually. Both offices will be open for medication pick up.

Rodney Raider spent yesterday with Mr. Schleicher's class. First he watched them work on their writing while hanging with some Sasquatch friends. Then, he was amazed to see that they were doing 3 digit by 1 digit multiplication! He plans to tell Santa about the rock stars in room 220! #ElfontheShelf #RedRaiderNation

Students who will be returning to face to face instruction on January 4, 2021 must make bussing arrangements by Tuesday, December 22. No transportation requests will be fulfilled between Wednesday, December 23 and Monday, January 4 to allow our staff a restful holiday break. Thank you for your cooperation!

Rodney Raider visited Mrs. Kneffel's room today. He watched the children work hard on their morning work from the computer cart. Rodney was amazed at how hard 5th graders work! As a reward for their hard work, Rodney left candy canes for the students. He will share with Santa all the good behaviors that showed students being ready, being responsible and being respectful. #ElfontheShelf #RedRaiderNation

Rodney Raider was in Mrs. Hutchens's class yesterday. He saw the children working on animal reports, phonics, and reading. He loved the great work on the elf math sheet. He was so happy that so many students passed their one minute math tests. Rodney will tell Santa about all of the good behaviors. #ElfontheShelf #RedRaiderNation

Rodney Raider sat perched in Mrs. Pennington's classroom Christmas tree yesterday, where he could keep a close eye on the first graders. He was very impressed with how hard the students were working on their animal research. Rodney even learned about fact families during math! He'll have plenty of good things to report to Santa. #RedRaiderNation #ElfontheShelf

Cat Herders Day, on December 15th, recognizes those whose life or job is like herding cats. They seem cute, adorable, and innocent. How much trouble can they cause? Ask a preschool or early elementary teacher! Thank you to our favorite cat herders: Ms. Carra, Ms. Cindy, Ms. Jenny, Ms. Donna, Mrs. Albertson, Ms. Luann, Mrs. Jones, Ms. Tiffany, Mrs. Marshall, Ms. Baleigh, Mrs. Curtis, Ms. Kraft, and Ms. Laursen! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SmgLtg1Izw

With the recent retirement of one of our community's long time daycare providers, we would like to help out our current preschool families who do not have a daycare to attend on Fridays. If this is you, please contact Tiffany Brooks at tbrooks@marletteschools.org as we are considering a Friday preschool daycare.

All bus routes will run as scheduled beginning Monday, December 14. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we worked our way through route adjustments!

Rodney Raider visited our Young Fives classroom today. He was excited to see that they were learning to write the letter I and the number 3. He also noticed that the children were making good choices and being very kind to each other. Rodney is looking forward to sharing this good report with Santa at the North Pole. #ElfontheShelf

Rodney Raider visited Ms. Nickens' room today. He brought candy canes for the boys and girls! In the morning, he noticed how helpful the children were with each other when doing their Math. In the afternoon, he hopped into the Math games basket and watched the children do their Writing and Social Studies. #ElfontheShelf

Rodney Raider kept an eye on Mrs. Pilarski's class today. He hung out on their Christmas lights and made sure he fixed a strand before he left! Rodney saw the second graders working so hard on double digit addition. He loved listening to the class read, "There Was a Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow". We're sure he will report all good things to Santa after visiting this classroom.

The elementary school is doing an inventory of our current technology and we have several missing iPads and Chromebooks. Please return any technology items you have borrowed to the elementary school by this Friday, December 11. This is only for families who are in-person. If you are a part of our virtual learning program, please keep your checked out device. Thank you.

Rodney Raider was in Mrs. Branding’s classroom this morning. He sat right over her shoulder and kept an eye on the students during the Google Meet. He learned about the schwa sound in phonics, listened to a Christmas story, and saw that second graders can do two digit addition! He noticed that the students were very respectful during the meeting and were all following directions! He has some great things to tell Santa about Mrs. Branding’s second grade class. #ElfontheShelf

Marlette Jr/Sr High students in 9th thru 12th grades are scheduled to return to face to face instruction on January 4th, 2021. This is subject to change based on the Governor's updates. Rodney Raider had time to read and explore the school over the weekend. He found some red construction paper. He wants to keep hearing all the girls and boys are doing their best on their school work, but most of all, wants to remind us to share a loving word or gesture with our families and friends. LOVE is needed everywhere. #ElfontheShelf #RedRaiderNation

He sat in on all of the Google Meets Mrs. Zuhlke had today so was able to see many students right in their own homes! He is so impressed with the number of students who participated today! It was nice to have some company in the gym!

Marlette Jr./Sr. High School Students & Parents,
I hope this message finds you and your family staying safe and healthy. Since the Governor's Executive Order last Thursday, the staff at Marlette Jr./Sr. High School has been collaborating to develop a remote learning plan to best meet the needs of our students. We thank you all for your patience as we worked through this development process that has been uncharted territory for us all. We are aware of the varying levels of technology accessibility within our school community, and we have devised a plan to address those differences. Our plan aims to assist students with their emotional, social, and academic needs during this unprecedented time. The upcoming journey is new to us all, so we know there will be some 'bumps in the road.' Do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher(s) or me with any questions or concerns you have. If your child is able to, please encourage your child to check their school issued Google Email account daily for more information and teacher instructions. We will work through this together!
Attached below are the following

This is an important message from Marlette High School. Attention parents of 7 through 11 grade students. Today, your child received an email from their first period teacher regarding individual technology access. If able, please have your child reply as soon as possible.

Reminder - Automatic Food Service Deposits
Parents who have set up automatic food service payments through Efunds for Schools should discontinue those for the remainder of this school year.

Hello families!
Marlette Jr/Sr High School wanted to give an amazing project that you can do together as a family. You can create a tessellation which combines art with math! One of the most famous artists who combined math and art was MC Escher. You can check out his designs for inspiration or learn more about him in the links below. There are 2 main types of tessellations: a translation of the created object which just slides the object up/down and left/right or a rotational tessellation which “spins” the object. Check out the links below to see how to create the tessellations and then try one for yourself. Color and decorate them with your great imaginations! Take a picture of your creation and post it to the Marlette Community Schools’ Facebook page for an opportunity to win a gift card to one of our amazing local businesses. Good Luck and Happy Tessellating!

Happy Friday #RedRaiderNation,
As most of you are aware, the Governor's Executive Order suspended in-person K-12 instruction for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. To allow our fabulous MCS staff to prepare for the extended school closure, we will NOT be distributing new materials during the week of April 6th. Instead, next week MCS will be posting daily "challenges" to students and families through our district's social media outlets. The "challenges" will be family oriented and aimed at keeping students engaged in learning and exploring. Please post your pictures to our district Facebook page once your students complete the daily "challenges." From those posts, we will randomly select daily winners that will be awarded gift cards to local businesses. Let's all enjoy learning together!
Additionally, the MCS staff is busy preparing our educational plan as we transition to remote learning for the remainder of the school year. The anticipated start date of our plan is April 13th. More details will be communicated next week. We thank you for your patience as we work to create a plan that best serves our students' academic, social, and emotional needs.

Hi High School Families,
I hope you and your families are staying healthy and safe. I know that with school closing, many of you who wanted to order a yearbook probably did not get a chance to do so. Even with the school closing, we will still have a completed yearbook to commemorate your year.
I will still be able to take yearbook orders over the next couple of weeks. Just email me and let me know if you want a book. If you and your parents are able to pay now, that would be great. Checks can be made out to Marlette Community Schools and sent to my home address
5262 Martus Rd.
North Branch, MI 48461
If you are unable to make payment at this time, that is fine. I can collect money when the books arrive.
Thanks,
Mr. Barrows (sbarrows@marletteschools.org)

Good Afternoon Marlette Community Schools Families!
We hope you are all doing well and have reached out for support if needed. Although we do not know at this time what the rest of the school year will look like, in an effort to be proactive, we have created a technology survey to help us gather information about the needs of our Marlette Schools community. Please take a moment to complete this short survey so that we can utilize the information as we plan for next steps. We hope to hear more from the Governor and our Michigan Department of Education tomorrow to help guide us moving forward. Once we know more and have your responses, we will have a plan ready by early next week.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfcdgJY-NtG2-_H50TxVfLX7_P12vdRRUNjE7Enxm_9NI4p0w/viewform?fbclid=IwAR1lhBlC5JLGc0J6frw_ZGGwal_PrG_LmnvSiZVYQpjY0XmbeQCSn5KbiLI
Thank you for all you are doing to support your children during this unprecedented time in our nation's history. Please complete this survey by Friday, April 3.

This is a reminder, today is our food delivery day, please try to watch for your bus. With the temperatures rising we do not like leaving the food on porches. If you know you will not be home, leave a cooler with a note on it and food will be delivered inside the cooler. We thank you for your help and sure miss seeing the students’ faces.

Good morning families. We are happy to provide for two families per vehicle max at our pop up pantry. Thank you for understanding.

Updated DC Trip Cookie Dough Fundraiser:
We have just received word from Savory Foods (the manager of the current Marlette DC Trip cookie dough fundraiser) that they will be unable to provide online options for ordering, despite previous reports. If you have orders that you need to turn in for the DC Trip cookie dough fundraiser, you may mail your orders directly to Mrs. George. She will make sure the orders get entered and credit is given to student accounts. Mrs. George's address is: 5834 S. Kingston Road, Clifford, MI 48727.
After the orders are placed, Mrs. George will be sure to give an approximate delivery date, and we will go from there.
Please be sure to contact her at bgeorge@marletteschools.org if you have ANY questions at all.
Stay safe!
~Beverly George (DC Trip Coordinator)

Senior Riley Ford capped off a spectacular Red Raider career with a State Champion runner-up title at the Division 4 Finals at Michigan International Speedway this past Saturday. Ford was in second place on the sloppy course from start to finish in the field of 238 runners. She fought off the third place finisher with less than a mile to go to finish with a time of 19:22.
This is the highest finish by any Marlette runner and she is the only girl to qualify for state all four years and to finish all-state three of those years. Riley will continue her running career next fall at Dalton State College in Georgia.
“We are so proud of all the hard work and dedication Riley has poured into her high school career. She worked tremendously hard and fought the entire race to earn the title of State Champion runner-up. Capping off back to back regional and league titles, three time all-state honors, and many individual wins, it was a great day for Riley and Marlette Cross Country.” said Coach Chris Titus
